These types of blade can be referred to as 'Kris' or 'Keris'. I have used 'Kris' for the majority of this page.
DESIGN INFLUENCED BY:
THE LEGEND OF THE KERIS AND MPU GANDRING

An 11th century lagend. Ken Arok fell in love with the wings wife and wished to marry her and become king. Arok asks Mpu Gandring, a famous keris maker, to make him a powerful keris. Arok murders Mpu Gandring and steels the keris before its completion of rituals that prevent the blade from becoming a force of evil. Mpu Gandring curses the blade as he's dying, to kill seven people including Ken Arok.

Ken Arok become king through deceit, but is later killed by the son of the old king. The blade eventually kills seven men, many from the royal household. The fate of the keris after this is unclear, but some legends say that it was cast out into the Javan Sea, where it transformed into a dragon.
